Meet the Committees

Looking for a way to get more involved? The Chamber offers members many opportunities to share their expertise and enthusiasm with the community.

Membership Committee: This committee serves to maintain and develop a strong membership that will secure financial stability to support the goals and overall mission of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce through education, membership growth and social activities. This committee also oversees the following sub committees:

  • Ambassadors: serve to recruit new members, retain existing members and serve as goodwill diplomats for the Chamber of Commerce
  • New Member Reception/Orientation: this subcommittee hosts quarterly orientation for the new and current members, provide an opportunity to learn networking techniques, and to invite them to different events
  • Membership Mixers: this subcommittee plans and hosts quarterly after hour receptions for all Chamber members to relax, enjoy and network with other Chamber members

Community Enhancement Committee: This committee will continue to work with state and national entities to identify and address deficiencies in the community which adversely impact the economic life of our citizens. This committee also oversees the following subcommittees:

  • Beautification: facilitate the improvement of dilapidated homes and structures in the community and identify areas that need aesthetic improvements around Ada
  • Quality of Life: represent the community at large with city and county officials and to present suggestions, ideas and issues to the leadership for the overall improvement of Ada’s Quality of Life
  • Education Support: provide support to the area school systems by providing speakers to address the student population or assistance to the educators
  • Green Initiatives: work to encourage businesses to go green and suggest alternate methods of energy and to encourage recycling and conservation
  • Playful City USA: work with city personnel to gain certification as a Playful City USA, promote city parks and recreation, and create a positive impact on childhood wellness, public safety and quality of life in Ada

Business Support and Retention: This committee will concentrate its efforts for established business development for all chamber members. Identify and address issues that will increase the community’s ability to sustain businesses. They will also provide support services in conjunction with state and federal resources, East Central University, and Pontotoc Technology Center. This committee also oversees the following subcommittees:

  • Chamber Business Resource: help supply resources for members that need assistance for their small business
  • Partner Workforce: to bring awareness to the business community of the services and programs offered through Workforce Oklahoma and the advantage of utilizing the Workforce Center for employment services and information

Leadership Committee: Coordinate and conduct the annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership institute by developing curriculum and recruiting future leaders of the Ada community. The committee will seek nationally known presenters to provide a series of one day leadership development workshops. This committee oversees the following subcommittees:

  • Leadership YOUniversity: a developmental curriculum course for entry leadership professionals in the Ada area
  • Young Professionals: networking, educational, and community service activities for young at heart Ada Professionals
  • Leadership Ada: participation with local individuals or businesses, this 6 month course educates the attendees on the inner workings of local and county government, the school system and Ada history

Retail Committee: this committee promotes annual sale events throughout the Ada area through advertising.

Legislative Committee: to promote legislative and responsible government at all levels that enhance the environment for economic growth of our city and region.
